09. KEEP THE FEEL INTERLUDE UNMASTER.mp3
Now Playing: "Keep The Feel interlude" by DJ Drez feat. Zaire Black & Marti Nikko
taken from Keep The Feel: a legacy of hip-hop soul the new lp by Abstract Rude
Once signed to the Beastie Boys Grand Royal imprint, a long indie career later Abstract Rude has readied
himself to re-emerge with Rhymesayers Entertainment and his most
consistent and focused work to date, Rejuvenation. Produced entirely by
Seattle super producer Vitamin D, Rejuvenation is a hard
hitting soulful ryde showcasing Ab Rude's distinct and unlimited vocal
styling. Released May 5, 2009 and still being discovered today! Special guest features include Reggie Watts, Choklate, Haiku d'etat, Dumbfoundead, Busdriver, Nocando, Sahtyre, Alpha MC & Open Mike Eagle. "Nuff Fire" & "Thynk Eye Can" had music videos.
Abstract Rude started with this Making Tracks series back in 2002 as the interim discs between his official lps. A decade later he presents his 4th installment in the series: Steel Making Trax: The Export...(as the Import was released circa 2006 as a 10 song vinyl only limited edition -1000 pcs.) On this disc, Rude placed cuts from the Import that were previously available on vinyl only, he also made some new songs & showcased some indie features with friends. Usual Project Blowedian guests such as 2Mex, Busdriver, Haiku d'etat & Ellay Khule make appearances; also some international types like DJ Vadim & Maya Jupiter. "Basic Instinct" , "Bodies On The Floor" & "Alternate Society" are standout songs.
Abstract Rude's first collabo style full length release P.A.I.N.T. features amazing
sounds and features many heavy hitters - Freestyle
Fellowship, Living Legends, Visionaries, Beat Junkies, Atmosphere,
C.V.E., Da 5 Footaz, Moka Only, The Elephant Fatjack, Rob The Viking,
Daddy Kev, Kenny Segal. Other Personnel: Ryan Crosby (guitar); DJ Drez, Eligh, 2Mex, Awol One, Medusa, LMNO, Self-Jupiter, Slug, Eyedea, and The
Grouch among others. Favorites include "Yep", "Stop Biting", "She's Always Right", "Frisbee" and "A Coat of Paint."
Abstract Rude stands as an example of longevity in the game. Having
worked with other west coast luminaries, he has definitely established
himself in today's finicky Hip Hop game. Many records later he has
teamed up again with Tribe Unique to create Showtyme! This album
contains the same elements that made all of their previous albums
together so great. Showtyme! is a marriage of chill beats and calm, yet
exact rhyme schemes and dazzling vocal talent. More high quality music coming out of Los Angeles.
What more can you ask for? Contains favorites: "All Day", "Coolin", "In nevada" and "Get Live" with Swollen Members.
Abstract Rude presents...Eyes Wide Shutish: short rhymes vol.1. This 6 program mixtape produced & mixed by Kenny Segal aka DJ Syndakit of On Point DJ crew is equal parts weirdly spooky & head noddingly entertaining with subliminally laced lyrics by Ab Rude all throughout. The disc was the soundtrack to a special party thrown by Lucinda Kriefel on Abbey's 1st time performing in Kansas City back in 2007 with DJ Artistic, but Rude decided to make it available online. A good lil 20 minute mixtape for your car ride. Pick it up u won't be mad Kenny got open with the production!
Abstract Tribe Unique take you on an out of body experience with
their 1998 release, Mood Pieces. This was the lp originally recorded in 1995 for Beastie Boys' Grand Royal label. In a turn from harsher, darker
soundscapes, Fat Jack puts forth beats that span from ambient to soul
and reggae, creating a sound reminiscent of, yet predating neo-soul. Fat's buddy and hip-hop legend DJ Slip (of Compton's Most Wanted fame) contributed production on a few songs & also mixed the entire lp in his own studio. The
sparse instrumentation is the perfect setup for Abstract Rude's
trademark precise flow. This Project Blowed legend attacks the beat with
calculated ferocity, breaking combos and neckbones along the way. With
this record, released 2 years after its target release date, Abstract
Tribe Unique presents an experiment in more sensual and sensitive vibes.
Abstract Rude presents Making More Tracks, the 2nd installment in his Making Tracks interim disc series. Released in 2004 after the Showtyme! lp, Making More Tracks made fans of Ab Rude pleasantly surprised by this energetic followup to what they thought was a one time only deal back in 2002. Pulling from classic features on forgotten compilations & collab tracks on homie's old lps, Abbey then added some cool new tunes with Fatjack, Kenny Segal, Nikko & DJ Drez. Guests include Kool Dj EQ, Resin Dogs and members of Living Legends.
Abstract Rude presents...Making Tracks, the 1st installment in his interim disc series. Released in 2002 after the P.A.I.N.T lp, Making Tracks is made up of Ab's favorite bumps at the time. Features five new releases and many impossible-to-find tracks previously released on obscure collections. Ab made this disc to familiarize newer fans with older material, and of course to have an additional product to sell while touring on the road. It turned out to be a great idea that he went on to continue with 3 more installments to date. Includes underground hits "Ain't Nothing To It", "213 to 619 Adjacent" w/ DJ Artistic, "B-Boy Real McCoy" w/ Aceyalone and "Rolling Along" w/ Moka Only.
